Contact center AI vendor Cresta launched Training Simulator on July 9, 2026, a product built to replace scripted role-play exercises with live, adaptive practice sessions between human agents and AI-generated customer personas (Cresta, 2026).
What the product does
Training Simulator uses Cresta's AI agent technology to run simulated customer conversations that respond in real time to what a trainee agent says. According to Cresta, the simulated customers can push back, express emotion and escalate when an agent's answers fall short, rather than following a fixed script (Cresta, 2026; PR Newswire, 2026).
New agents can practice against these simulations before handling live calls. Managers can also assign specific simulated scenarios to individual agents based on performance data already captured in Cresta's quality management tools, and use the product for onboarding, ongoing upskilling, or remedial coaching for underperforming agents (Cresta, 2026).
It builds on a product from two months earlier
Training Simulator runs on top of Synthetic Customers, a Cresta capability launched May 28, 2026. Synthetic Customers mines a company's historical conversation data to build personas that reflect actual customer behavior, language patterns and emotional signals, rather than personas built from surveys or CRM notes, which Cresta describes as often outdated or incomplete (Cresta, 2026; CXM Today, 2026).
Synthetic Customers was originally positioned for testing AI agents before they go live. Training Simulator extends the same underlying personas to train human agents, which Cresta frames as a second use case for the same data pipeline (CXM Today, 2026).
Vendor claims versus verification
Cresta says the product is designed to decrease onboarding time, improve agent retention and increase performance. These are the company's own stated goals for the product; no independent measurement of these outcomes at a customer site was found at the time of publication, and none of the coverage reviewed cites third-party data confirming them (Cresta, 2026; Martech Series, 2026).
Cresta's named enterprise customers include United Airlines, Cox Communications, Marriott, Hilton, Snap Finance, Propel Holdings and Intuit, though the company has not said which of these accounts, if any, are using Training Simulator at launch (Cresta, 2026).
Pricing
Cresta has not published pricing for Training Simulator. The company's standard commercial model is negotiated per account based on agent seat count and feature tier, with annual contracts, and prospective buyers must go through a sales demo to see numbers.
What to watch next
Cresta has not announced a general availability date beyond the July 9 launch, nor named which customers will pilot the product first. The next concrete signal will be whether any of Cresta's named enterprise accounts confirm deployment, and whether the company publishes measured results, rather than stated goals, from an early customer.
