Clarify Acquires Seam AI, Its First Deal in the CRM Fight

Clarify, a Seattle-based startup building a CRM to compete with Salesforce and HubSpot, announced on July 21, 2026, that it has acquired Seam AI, a San Francisco company that tracks buying signals such as funding announcements, hiring activity, and executive job changes and surfaces them to sales teams. It is Clarify's first acquisition since the company launched.

What's changing

Clarify said in a company blog post that it will combine the two products into a new offering called Clarify Signals, expected to ship later this year. The pitch, in the founders' own words, is that Clarify and Seam were building "different halves of the same future": Clarify reads what is happening inside a company's own CRM data, while Seam reads external signals happening outside it.

Five Seam employees are joining Clarify as part of the deal, including Seam co-founder Nicholas Scavone. That brings Clarify's headcount to 30. Neither company disclosed financial terms, though Clarify said it secured additional funding to complete the acquisition.

The companies involved

Clarify has raised more than $22 million to date, according to GeekWire's reporting on the deal, and its co-founders, Patrick Thompson and Ondrej Hrebicek, previously built Iteratively, a data-governance startup that Amplitude acquired in 2021.

Seam AI had raised $7 million of its own funding, including a seed round led by Bessemer Venture Partners in April 2024, before agreeing to be acquired.

Why it fits a pattern

Clarify's move is one of several deals this year pointing to the same idea: CRM vendors want signal data (the external, real-time indicators of who is likely to buy) built into the core product rather than bolted on through a third-party tool. Salesforce's $3.6 billion acquisition of Fin in June and HubSpot's acquisition of Warmly earlier in July both point the same direction, each adding a different piece of "act on this signal automatically" functionality to an existing CRM.

For sales teams evaluating tools in this category, the acquisition means one less standalone signal vendor to choose from and one more CRM claiming to do that job natively. Whether Clarify Signals performs as described will not be testable until it ships later this year.
