Autodesk completed its acquisition of MaintainX for approximately $3.6 billion on August 3, 2026, the third nine-figure-or-larger enterprise software acquisition announced in a single week, following Nscale's purchase of Anyscale and Schneider Electric's purchase of AiDASH.

Autodesk closes on MaintainX

Autodesk finalized its purchase of MaintainX, a maintenance-management software provider, in an all-cash deal valued at roughly $3.6 billion (Autodesk News, 2026; Construction Dive, 2026). The deal was first announced May 28, 2026, and closed August 3. MaintainX is folding into a newly created Autodesk Operations Solutions division, which the company says is intended to unify its design, manufacturing and operations product lines under one platform.

Autodesk disclosed that MaintainX is on track for more than $135 million in annualized recurring revenue for calendar year 2026, growing more than 50 percent year over year (Autodesk News, 2026). That figure comes from Autodesk's own release and has not been independently verified by a third party; it should be read as a company-disclosed projection, not an audited result.

Nscale buys Anyscale for full-stack AI infrastructure

On July 30, Nscale, an AI cloud infrastructure provider, agreed to acquire Anyscale, the company behind the Ray framework for scaling AI training and inference workloads, in a deal reported at approximately $1.65 billion (Bloomberg, 2026; TechCrunch, 2026). Nscale did not officially disclose the purchase price; the figure comes from Bloomberg's reporting, corroborated by TechCrunch.

Anyscale's roughly 200 employees across the United States, Europe and India will join Nscale, and Anyscale will continue operating under its own brand and serving existing customers (Anyscale, 2026). The stated rationale is combining Nscale's compute layer, GPUs, data centers and power, with Anyscale's software layer to create what the companies describe as a full-stack AI hyperscaler. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2026.

Schneider Electric buys AiDASH for grid risk software

Also on July 30, Schneider Electric agreed to acquire AiDASH, a Palo Alto-based provider of AI-driven vegetation, asset and climate risk intelligence software for utilities, in an all-cash deal with an implied enterprise value of $350 million (ESG Today, 2026; Wilson Sonsini, 2026). Schneider Electric already held a stake in AiDASH through two earlier investments, a $10 million position via SE Ventures in 2022 and participation in a $58.5 million funding round in 2024, so the acquisition converts an existing minority position into full ownership.

AiDASH's platform uses satellite-based remote inspection to help utilities identify vegetation, storm and wildfire risk to infrastructure. Schneider Electric said the deal deepens its climate-resilience software portfolio for utility and critical-infrastructure customers.

What ties these together

Three different buyers, an engineering software company, an AI infrastructure provider, and an industrial conglomerate, each spent between $350 million and $3.6 billion in the same week to acquire software companies rather than build the equivalent capability internally. In each case the acquirer already had an adjacent product line: Autodesk in operations software, Nscale in AI compute, Schneider Electric in energy management. The pattern is not diversification into a new market. It is incumbents paying to close a specific capability gap next to a business they already run.

This lines up with a broader trend that industry trackers have flagged for 2026: private equity and strategic buyers holding large amounts of capital while enterprise buyers report actively reducing the number of vendors they run (SaaS M&A and VC Deals Tracker, 2026). Three deals in one week is not proof of a wave on its own, but it is consistent with that direction.

What to watch next

The Nscale-Anyscale and Schneider Electric-AiDASH deals are both still subject to regulatory approval and are expected to close in the second half of 2026. Autodesk has already closed its deal and begun integrating MaintainX into the new Autodesk Operations Solutions division; how quickly that integration produces a unified product, rather than two products sold side by side, is the more immediate thing to track.
