What happened
Amplix, a technology advisory firm majority-owned by private equity firm Gemspring Capital, announced on July 15, 2026 that it has acquired OneConnect, a technology procurement consultancy headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida. Terms were not disclosed.
OneConnect was founded in 2004 and operates as an independent broker in the technology market, helping enterprise clients source, negotiate and manage vendor relationships across cloud, security, mobility, unified communications, contact center and network connectivity contracts, along with AI and automation projects. Its leadership and staff are joining Amplix, and client accounts will continue under the Amplix brand.
"OneConnect brings a disciplined, independent approach to sourcing and managing vendor relationships that complements the work we do every day," said Dan Gill, CEO of Amplix, in the companies' joint announcement. John Smack, CEO of OneConnect, said the deal gives his team "greater resources, expanded expertise, and access to a wider range of capabilities," while clients "continue to work with the team they know and trust."
A roll-up, not a one-off
The OneConnect purchase is Amplix's fifteenth acquisition since Gemspring formed the platform in 2022. Amplix itself was built by combining three firms, ROI Communications, Blue Front Technology Group and allConnex, and has since added others including GlobalNet Communications and InflowCX. The company is headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts, and now employs roughly 275 people across more than 20 US states and Canada.
That pattern points to private equity consolidation of technology sourcing and advisory brokers: firms that sit between enterprise buyers and vendors like cloud providers, telecom carriers and security vendors, typically compensated through vendor commissions to negotiate and manage those contracts. Rolling up independent regional players into one national brand is a bet that scale, whether in vendor leverage or in cross-selling advisory services, is worth more than each firm's standalone client relationships. Amplix's fifteen acquisitions in under four years is an aggressive pace even by roll-up standards, and this deal is its second Florida-based acquisition of 2026.
Why it matters for procurement teams
For enterprises that use OneConnect, or brokers like it, the immediate change is organizational: a previously independent advisor now reports through a larger, PE-owned platform. That can widen the practice areas available to a client, since Amplix folds OneConnect's team into services spanning AI, cloud, infrastructure and security advisory. It can also mean the commercial incentives behind that advice, including which vendors pay commissions to the combined firm and how those payments are structured, are now set at a bigger and less visible layer of the business than a single regional consultancy.
Procurement and IT leaders who rely on independent technology brokers for vendor selection should treat an acquisition like this as a prompt to re-confirm how their advisor is compensated, not assume continuity because the day-to-day account team is unchanged.
Neither company disclosed a purchase price or OneConnect's revenue, and no source reviewed for this piece puts a figure on the size of the technology procurement brokerage market as a whole.
